A day of meditation with Freely Given Retreats

A day of meditation with Freely Given Retreats

Date & Time

Sun 21st Oct 2018
9:15 am - 5:00 pm

Location

The Glade

Freely Given Retreats have found a forest home for a series of 1 day meditation retreats. Held in The Glade, near the Dartington Redwoods, this single day retreat offers a chance to practice deeply for those of us with busy work and family commitments. The teacher for the day is Mark Øvland who will be offering guided meditation, teachings, walking meditation and silent meditation both outside and in The Nest. The day will be held in silence ending with a chance to chat around the evening fire.

When. October 21st. 10 am until 4 pm. Please arrive between 9.15 and 9.45 to find your meditation spot in the Nest and settle in for a 10 am start.

What. A 1-day meditation retreat. Including time for teachings, guided meditation, Q&A, silent meditation, walking meditation in the woods. The day will be in silence until 4. Then a chance to chat around the evening fire until 5 for those who wish.

Who. You and up to thirty others and our teacher for the day – Mark Ovland. This retreat is open to anyone aged over 18.

Where. The Glade, behind Schumacher College, Dartington Hall Estate. Please see here for info on directions and parking. It’s walking distance from Totnes. There is limited parking so please car-share as much as you can.

What to bring. Warm, comfortable clothes (probably best to throw on some layers – giving you the option to minimise if we all get warm by the wood-burner in The Nest!). Possibly a shawl or blanket for keeping you warm when meditating. Water proofs. Your lunch, drinks and a snack for later if you fancy staying on to chat around the evening fire (there’s no food or drink provided) . Reasonable footwear – we are in the woods. Freely Given Retreats will provide a bunch of mats and meditation cushions but please bring your own if you can.

Warm generosity. Freely Given Retreats are powered by generosity. We are able to offer this retreat free of charge as all the organisers are volunteers and the costs have been covered thanks to the kind donations previous participants have made. There will be a pot available on the day to leave your own donations, should you wish to support this wonderful retreat-gifting economy 🙂

Interested? Places are limited. Please let us know if you would like to attend use our Contact Us page here to reserve your place. You can also simply turn up on the day, but please be aware that priority will be given to those who have reserved.
